Dele Alli sealed a late move away from Tottenham Hotspur on Deadline Day and spoke to Sky Sports following his departure to share his excitement.

The Englishman spent seven years at Tottenham after signing from back in 2015 but, on Monday, left north London for Everton on a permanent deal.

However, there was a sentence in the 25-year-old’s interview which may not please everyone at Spurs, with the midfielder claiming he is looking ‘to be happy playing football’.

Dele joined Frank Lampard’s side on the day of his own appointment as the former Spurs midfielder looks to rejuvenate his career under the Premier League great.

“I just want to be happy playing football and I think working with Lampard and the great players they’ve got there, I think it’s a great opportunity to do that,” Dele told the Sky Sports reporter.

It has been a difficult couple of seasons for the 25-year-old in north London, with his game time taking a big hit since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.

But even before the Argentine’s sacking, Dele’s form in an attacking sense had begun to decline, with the midfielder failing to score more than nine league goals in a season since the 2017/18 campaign (via Transfermarkt).

And the arrival of Antonio Conte failed to provide Dele with a fresh lease of life at Spurs, with just three league appearances to his name since Conte’s appointment in November.

Dele had some incredible moments as a player, however, the last few years of inconsistent football seems to have taken a toll on the player, who is clearly relishing the opportunity on Merseyside.
