Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir has taken to Twitter to share his frustrations with a moment involving Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero in their Premier League clash on Wednesday night.

The Lilywhites suffered an embarrassing defeat against the relegation-battling Burnley with a second-half goal proving the difference.

Will Spurs make the top four?

And it was the Argentine defender who was at fault for the deciding goal as the Burnley defender climbed higher as the inswinging free kick came into the Spurs box.

Following the goal for the Clarets, Weir said the following on Twitter: “Romero has to do better there, for me”.

Romero has made an impressive return from injury after sustaining a serious hamstring issue that saw him sidelined for a number of months.

And even in the game at Turf Moor, the Argentine put on a mighty display for the majority of the game having completed two tackles and blocked two shots (via SofaScore).

However, the 23-year-old was the Spurs player to be beaten by Mee from the free-kick to provide Sean Dyche’s side with all three points as they battle against the drop.

TIF Thoughts on Romero’s importance…

The defeat at Turf Moor saw three big points drift away for Spurs after a stunning victory on the weekend against Manchester City.

And it would be easy to point the finger at Romero for the goal conceded, however, the Argentine had saved Spurs earlier in the night as Wout Weghorst bared down on Hugo Lloris’ goal.

There has been plenty to be excited about from Romero’s return from injury but the goal conceded on Wednesday night could well prove huge in Tottenham’s hoped for a spot in the Champions League.
