The Sunderland owner, Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, has provided fans with a potentially huge hint towards the direction the Wearside club are leaning in their hunt for a new manager.

Sunderland parted ways with Lee Johnson on Sunday following their emphatic defeat away to the struggling Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Black Cats announced Mike Dodds and Michael Proctor will be in the dugout on the weekend for their upcoming clash at the Stadium of Light against Doncaster Rovers.

However, reports have since emerged suggesting the Wearside club have offered their former manager, Roy Keane, the opportunity to make a return to the north east.

And amid the rumours, the Sunderland owner has been spotted liking a post on Instagram from the SPORTbible relaying the news Keane is the favourite to replace Johnson.

It is believed the club have presented Keane with a short-term deal until the end of the season with the opportunity to extend it by a further year.

The 50-year-old manager previously took the reins on Wearside between 2006-2008, however, he has been out of management since leaving Nottingham Forest in 2019 (via Transfermarkt).

Following their defeat in the weekend, Sunderland added another two recruits to their squad with the club legend Jermain Defoe making a sensational return until the end of the season.

But could Defoe’s return to Wearside be just the first of two Sunderland reunions this week with Louis-Dreyfus’ latest hint towards the club leaning in Keane’s direction?
