Image for Rangers: Journalist left disgusted by Ryan Jack incident

Award-winning journalist Brian McNally was left furious on Twitter as an image emerged of a challenge from Rangers ace Ryan Jack in their draw on Sunday.

Rangers were held to a point against Dundee United on the weekend which saw Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side dealt a blow in the race for the title.

Will Jack get a retrospective ban?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The image to emerge on Twitter showed the 29-year-old midfielder going into a challenge on Dylan Levitt, with the Rangers ace’s studs wrapped around the United youngster’s leg.

Jack did not receive any punishment on the day from the referee at Tannadice Park, however, the incident could well see the Scottish Football Association take retrospective action.

And the image left McNally disgusted by the Rangers star, with the journalist claiming the 29-year-old has a history of poor challenges like that: “Shocking challenge from Ryan Jack. He has previous for this type of wild tackle,” he said on Twitter.

TIF Thoughts on the challenge…

The still image certainly will cast an impression on anyone who has seen it circulating on Twitter, however, having watched the video of the challenge, we do not think there is any malice from Jack.

Jack is certainly incredibly late to the ball as it appears he intends on clearing it away from the Dundee United ace.

Despite not feeling there was any intent to hurt Levitt in the challenge, his lateness could be judged as recklessness, which could in turn see him receive a retrospective ban.

Having featured six times now this season in the Scottish Premiership, the midfielder is yet to be awarded a yellow card, but could the SFA decide further action is needed after the incident with Levitt?
