Celtic made hard work of their Dundee test, but eventually got over the line to secure the three points, recovering from a handful of setbacks during the game.

It was a nightmare start for Ange Postecoglou’s side who fell a goal behind at Celtic Park after Daniel Mullen opened the scoring. A brace from Giorgos Giakoumakis sent the hosts in at the break 2-1 to the good.

Ryan Sweeney then levelled for Dundee on the hour mark, piling the pressure on Celtic to get the three points they desperately desired. Giakoumakis completed the scoring with his hattrick four minutes from time to ensure the hosts maximised their points haul on Sunday afternoon.

Former Celtic ‘keeper Pat Bonner had some criticism for the Hoops in the manner in which they conceded the second goal however. He said to the BBC: “Set-pieces are Celtic’s Achilles heel. They haven’t got the height. They can’t match up with those guys. The delivery is into a brilliant area, where Ryan Sweeney can go an attack it”

The bottom line for Celtic today, even if there is a problem defending set pieces, is that they can work on it in training and that they won the game and secured the three points, regardless of how they got there.
