Loaned out Celtic man Scott Robertson put in a poor display for Crewe Alexandra in the club’s latest defeat.
At the start of this campaign, the 20-year-old left the Bhoys to join the League One club on a season-long loan deal. However, it seems as though his most recent outing did not exactly go to plan.
Indeed, over the past weekend, Crewe were thumped 4-1 away from home by Accrington Stanley – in what was his team’s fifth straight league defeat as the club sank to nine points from safety.
While the loss was by a large margin in the end, it seems as though Robertson had a great chance to equalise, drawing some criticism from the club’s official website for his poor shot choice.

Indeed, the match report mentioned: “On 22 minutes, Crewe went direct and so nearly created an equaliser. Richards elected to hit it longer and after Porter won his aerial duel, Harper’s instant through-ball released the run of Robertson.
“The on-loan Celtic midfielder ran beyond the home defence and as Savin came out of his goal to oppose him, the midfielder could only screw his shot into the side netting.
“It was a desirable opening for the Railwaymen and perhaps Robertson should have elected to have lobbed him.”
The player’s disappointing display was also reflected on WhoScored, which gave him a match rating of 5.60 – this is his second-worst of the season. He also lost possession 18 times, according to SofaScore.
Unfortunately for Robertson, this is not the first time he has drawn criticism in his loan spell. Earlier on in the season, Crewe manager David Artell called the Hoops man a ‘silly boy’ after he picked up a three-match ban for an off-the-ball incident against Bolton Wanderers.
The manager said: “I didn’t see the incident at the time but it was shown to me after the game and he has been a silly boy. You cannot do that sort of thing on the football pitch.”
No doubt, the player, Crewe and Celtic will all be hoping Robertson can offer a little more to his loan club during the remainder of the season.
