Greg O’Keeffe has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about how great Jonjoe Kenny was for Everton on Saturday.

It was a bold move from Frank Lampard as he reverted to a back four, and this saw Jonjoe Kenny thrown into an unfamiliar position as a left-back, despite rarely featuring this season and only having done so at right-back prior to the weekend.

Should Kenny keep his place in the team?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Kenny was handed just his fourth league start of the season and his first under Lampard, and he definitely didn’t disappoint as he racked up a 7.8 WhoScored rating and proved to the new boss he’s good enough to operate in that position.

O’Keeffe was very happy to see Kenny put in a solid performance.

“Every single player had a great level of performance, and that’s unusual. Jonjoe Kenny’s was the best performance I think he’s had in a blue shirt, for me.”

TIF Thoughts on Jonjoe Kenny…

The full-back has come through the Everton academy but has struggled to make a name for himself at Goodison Park so far, experiencing four separate loan spells away, and since making his league debut in 2016, has only featured 57 times across all competitions.

Everton did sell their number-one left-back in Lucas Digne last month, but brought in a replacement prior to that in the form of Vitalii Mykolenko.

However, he’s only started three games since arriving, but now with Kenny seemingly willing to put himself into an unusual position and still perform, he could be a huge asset moving forward and allow someone like Mykolenko more time to settle into English football a lot easier.
