Celtic reporter Kieran Devlin has been praising the performance of Matt O’Riley during their recent game in the Scottish Premiership.

Having come to the club during the January transfer window, the youngster has certainly begun to make his mark on this Celtic side.

He had played in four games for Celtic before the game against Aberdeen, bagging two assists along the way, going some way to paying back the £1.5m transfer fee that the club forked out to sign him from MK Dons.

The game against Aberdeen could very well prove to be the youngster’s coming out party as he tore the hosts apart during the opening half of the encounter, bagging the assist for Jota to score the opener, then doubling their lead minutes later, although it did take a significant deflection on its way to the net.

Interestingly, the midfielder had a whooping 56 touches in the game.

Speaking during a Q&A for The Athletic during half-time of the game at Pittodrie, Devlin was full of praise for the 21-year-old, stating that since coming to the club, he has barely put a foot wrong for Ange Postecoglou’s men:

Sun journalist Tom Barclay claims on Twitter that there were a number of Premier League sides that were given the chance to sign him in January, only to pass up on the opportunity. Based on how he has started at Celtic, there might be a few that are kicking themselves.

But their miss certainly appears to be Celtic’s gain, now let’s see if he can continue making the same impact between now and the end of the season to help Celtic in their battle for the title.
