Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte was left furious with the 26-year-old midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in their Premier League clash on Wednesday night, according to Alasdair Gold

With the Lilywhites struggling to find a breakthrough in the second half, Conte dragged Hojbjerg off after 58 minutes to give Rodrigo Bentancur his Premier League debut.

And it seems the Italian was left angered on the touchline of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after watching his Danish midfielder’s display.

Hojbjerg made a bright start to the game after providing the cross for the opening goal of the night as Jan Bednarek poked the ball into his own net.

However, Hojbjerg’s passing after the assist left his 52-year-old shouting at him from the touchline with Southampton piling the pressure on the Lilywhites.

Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold picked up on the Italian’s frustrations as he took to Twitter to relay the events from N17:

“Hojbjerg – the cross for the own goal aside – has played a few sloppy passes straight to Southampton so far. Conte turns and bellows in frustration as another one goes to a yellow shirt, under no pressure at all.”

TIF Thoughts on Hojbjerg’s performance…

The Danish international had a torrid half of football in the opening 45 minutes and his passing was a real issue for Tottenham who were unable to keep ahold of the ball.

Before being taken off in the second half, the Dane had lost possession seven times in the 58 minutes played and failed to make a single tackle from his central midfield position (via SofaScore).

And it is not the first time this season Hojbjerg has failed to impress for Spurs with the Danish midfielder slammed for his display against Chelsea last month.

Since arriving at Spurs, Hojbjerg has played a ridiculous amount of game time and perhaps he is due a spell out of the starting XI to either recharge or to give him a reality check to help find his best form.
