The Athletic journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke has been left purring over Ange Postecoglou’s latest comments after Celtic’s win on Wednesday night.

Celtic sealed all three points in an emphatic derby win over their bitter rivals, which has now taken the Australian’s side to the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Do you expect Celtic to win the league now?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Postecoglou’s men got off to the perfect start at Parkhead, with Reo Hatate netting twice and providing Liel Abada with another inside the first half to see the Hoops go into the break 3-0 up.

However, it was not just the football that left many impressed, with the 56-year-old’s post-game comments delighting Pitt-Brooke.

“We had 60,000 in here. I’m sure a lot walked in with some problems in their lives and for 95 minutes we made them forget that and feel good – and that’s something special,” said the Australian

And in response, The Athletic journalist took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the Celtic manager’s post-game comments.

“This is class,” Pitt-Brooke tweeted as the quotes were relayed.

He continued: “There’s so much nonsense talked about ‘fan engagement’ these days, usually taking the form of clubs selling fans some nonsense tokens or whatever. But if you want to see *real* engagement, it’s stuff like this.

“Fans aren’t stupid, they know who’s for real and they know who values them and cares about them. And it’s not fan engagement tokens powered by the blockchain.”

TIF Thoughts on Postecoglou’s comments…

We feel Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air at Parkhead since arriving over the course of the summer, and it is comments like this that suggest he understands the culture of the club, with their fans at the heart of what they do.

The fans had a big role to play at Celtic Park on Wednesday night and they delivered, with Postecoglou’s side providing the goods on the pitch, too.

And with the Bhoys now flying high at the top of the league, we think the 56-year-old and his side will certainly have helped some fans forget their issues with an unforgettable night at Parkhead.
