The transfer value of Wolves ace Daniel Podence is surely set to rise in the coming months after he put in a great performance over the weekend.

In his club’s last outing, the Portuguese winger struck the vital winner as his team edged past Leicester City in a tight 2-1 victory.

Indeed, after Ruben Neves had opened the scoring, Ademola Lookman managed to equalise for the Foxes. However, in the 66th minute, Podence fired home a brilliant effort from the edge of the box to give his team all three points.

Taking his recent display into account, he could be of interest to some big teams in the coming transfer window. With that in mind, it’s a surprise to see that Podence’s transfer value – according to analysis – is so low.

According to the CIES Football Observatory – a group that does exclusive research and statistical analysis on players to develop a powerful econometric approach that assesses the transfer value of professional footballers on a scientific basis – the 26-year-old is only worth somewhere between €10-€15m, which is as little as £8.3m.

It seemed as though he impressed plenty with his performance at the weekend, as Sky Sports pundit Robbie Keane went as far as comparing him with Real Madrid star Eden Hazard.

As quoted by football.london, Keane said: “I’m a massive fan of his. He can use his right and left foot. I honestly think there’s another gear in this lad. I think that there’s a lot more to come from him.

“He has a little bit of Hazard about him the way he plays. You’d hate to be a defender one-versus-one against him. Yes, he plays like Hazard but his numbers need to get better. He needs to get more goals, more assists but in terms of quality on the ball, he’s brilliant.

“Really good to watch. I think there’s another gear in him.”

TIF Thoughts on Daniel Podence and Wolves…

It would be a little far-fetched to expect the Wolves man to be worth quite the same amount as Hazard when he left Chelsea – the Belgian has cost Madrid a potential £150m. But with such comparisons being made between the two, it could be argued that his current valuation will soon rise if he can maintain this current run of form.

When he joined Wolves, Podence cost a reported £16.6m, arriving on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Olympiacos. This season, he has been a trusted regular for manager Bruno Lage, starting the club’s last eight league games as Bruno Lage’s side push for European football.

And if they pull off such an achievement with the 26-year-old at the heart of things, he will surely be worth a lot more than what is currently claimed in the transfer market.
