Harry Kane is hoping to see the ‘power’ of Tottenham Hotspur before he looks to put pen to paper on a new deal with the club.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on his Here We Go podcast following the striker’s incredible display against Manchester City at the weekend.

Do you expect Kane to sign a new deal?

Yes

No

No

Before the start of the season, Kane’s future was up in the air, with reports suggesting he wanted to move on from the north London club for the Citizens.

But having remained as a Tottenham player, there are now questions rising as to whether the 28-year-old will look to extend his stay at Tottenham, with City heavily linked to Erling Haaland.

And having shown the league he is returning to his best form under Antonio Conte, Romano had the following to say on what he knows about Kane’s view on a new deal with just over two years left on his current contract:

“Harry Kane is not signing a new deal in February, he’s not signing a new deal in March – same could be also for April. He’s gonna take his time because he wants to wait till the end of the season to decide what he wants to do.

“So it’s going to take some time. Why? Because Kane is loving his life at Tottenham now with Antonio Conte and their relationship is fantastic. He’s scoring goals, he’s performing so well. So Kane is happy with Tottenham’s situation right now.

“But for him, there are two key points. First point: Champions League football – he wants to play Champions League, so let’s see what happens to the Champions League race that is crazy in the Premier League.

“And then, with the transfer window – because he knows that Tottenham need to do something big in the transfer window if they want to keep Antonio Conte, Harry Kane, the whole project. So Conte’s 100% focused, and we’re gonna talk about it, but Kane wants to see the power of Tottenham for the future.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s contract…

It seems like the summer could be a huge window for the Lilywhites, with many expecting an important window for Antonio Conte.

And it seems like the same could be said for the future of Kane, with Romano believing the striker wants to see the club return back to where they were just a few years ago near the top of the league.

Going into the new campaign, Kane will have turned 29 years old and as he nears the 30 mark, the England captain remains without a trophy to his name.

Kane has undoubtedly had an exceptional goalscoring career to date, however, if he does not feel Spurs are heading in the right direction, could he look to force a move again in the summer?
