Antonio Conte managed Alessandro Bastoni whilst at Inter Milan, and he is reportedly keen to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer.

Sports journalist Conor Clancy told GIVEMESPORT that the highly rated defender is ‘technically brilliant’, which could be just what Spurs have needed at the back this season.

Clancy said, “He is technically brilliant. We saw Inter’s game against Lazio last month, he scored a gorgeous goal, like something Luka Modric would do from the edge of the box, and then put in a cross, against like Toni Kroos would do for Skriniar’s winner.”

Perfect partner for Cristian Romero?

The Argentine defender has seen his action on the pitch halted since his summer move to Spurs due to injury but when he completes a successful run of games, there are question marks as to who will partner him at the back.

Romero is more of an old fashioned central defender, whereas Bastoni is known for his brilliance with the ball at his feet, so with, this alongside his defensive capabilities, he could make the perfect partner for Romero.

The Italian defender is just 22-years-old and Romero is one year older at 23-years-old, therefore if they were to form a successful partnership, it could be one for the long run.

Dier replacement?

Eric Dier has been subject to a lot of abuse over the past 18 months for his performances on the pitch, and if Bastoni was to sign in the summer, he could act as a replacement for the 28-year-old.

The defender has recently obtained an injury which was described as a ‘big blow’ for Spurs by manager Conte, but this could be seen simply due to the lack of depth in that area rather than the ability that the players has.

However, it is no secret that Conte opts for a three at the back formation, so, even if Bastoni was to join Spurs, they could be playing alongside each other as Spurs seriously lack depth in that area and have no real other options.

The £54m-rated centre-back would add yet more steel to the Spurs back-line, and under Conte’s guidance, develop into a real world-beater in the Premier League.
