Ralf Rangnick was appointed Manchester United manager on an interim basis after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The board will be looking already at who they will want to appoint in the summer, with Mauricio Pochettino on the list.

The Argentine manager is currently at Paris Saint-Germain, but his future is apparently not sure with the French giants and Manchester United is his target in the summer.

Is Pochettino the right man for Man Utd?

No

This claim comes from Duncan Castles who was on The Transfer Window podcast, saying: “Mauricio Pochettino would take the job in a flash. He’s desperate to get this job, he’s desperate to get back to English football.

“The players of Paris Saint-Germain like him as an individual, but they don’t rate him as a coach and he hasn’t enjoyed his time over there. He’s going to win the French League but you should be winning the French League as PSG coach, the question is, can you take that supremely well-furnished squad and turn them into Champions League winners?”

TIF thoughts on Mauricio Pochettino to MUFC…

The 49-year-old Pochettino has some great experience under his belt in the Premier League, racking up 256 games in charge in England’s premium division. He made up that number as Southampton manager and more recently Tottenham Hotspur. He won 132 of these games and only lost 63.

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

He has some solid experience in Europe too which will be massive at a club like Manchester United. He guided Spurs to an all English final in 2019 where he had to settle for a silver medal as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool made it six European triumphs.

That’s better than anything Manchester United have achieved in the competition of late, they haven’t been past the quarter-final stage since 2010/11, so Pochettino can add that experience to the club should they go for him.
