Tottenham Hotspur fans should keep their eyes peeled for a potential rise to stardom for Kion Etete next season, according to Alasdair Gold.

The 19-year-old striker is currently out on loan with League One side Cheltenham Town, and Gold was recently discussing his development on his YouTube channel.

Do Spurs need to sign a striker in the summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Etete was recalled from his initial loan spell with Northampton Town earlier this year in the hope to find him a spot in a side from a higher division than League Two.

And he has certainly shown some positive signs this season, with six goals to his name across all competitions, including three in the fourth tier (via Transfermarkt).

With no new striker coming in over the January transfer window, Gold had the following to say on what Etete could bring to the side next season:

“Kion Etete is doing superbly. If you weren’t aware, Kion – big lad, about 6ft 3in, 20 years old, striker. Spent the first half of the season at Northampton, did very well – especially towards the end, you could see him coming on leaps and bounds, was getting goals and assists.

“I’d keep an eye on Kion Etete. He’s one who’s maybe going under the radar slightly, but I think I’ve always kind of felt with him – that his physical build, his stature, he’s a big guy – if he comes back and he’s had a cracking second half of the season at Cheltenham, Conte might have a little look at him in the summer. And he might think, you know what, he’s a different kind of option.”

TIF Thoughts on Kion Etete’s future at Tottenham…

Gold certainly had a positive review to provide on the youngster, who he believes could well be in Antonio Conte’s plans for the first team squad next season.

However, we do have our reservations, with Dane Scarlett failing to make any real impression on the Spurs side this season having been given some opportunities in the Europa Conference League (via Transfermarkt).

And we do question whether Conte and the Spurs fans would be satisfied with another youngster being used as the backup for Harry Kane, as has been the case this season.
