Tottenham Hotspur have not made a move for Gareth Bale ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Alasdair Gold.

The reliable reporter was speaking about the former Spurs ace on his latest YouTube video following rumours to have emerged suggesting the club were eyeing a move for the Real Madrid man.

Do you want Bale back?

No

No

Despite reports claiming the Welshman had signed a pre-agreement ahead of the summer to join Spurs, Gold claims that is far from the case.

Bale is now entering the final months of his deal with the La Liga side, while it is expected he will not be offered an extension, and will therefore leave in the summer.

However, Gold had the following to say on a potential move to Spurs:

“What I’m told by the club… everyone within the club that I’ve spoken to about this says it’s absolutely garbage.

“From my point of view, it’s the kind of move I could see Spurs doing, or trying to do, at least.

“If I’m going to be cynical, get back into my cynical frame of mind, from a marketing perspective, bringing Gareth Bale back for a last hurrah in front of a full stadium every week, or every other week, the marketing, the merchandising, everything – I get it, I think I get why you’d try and do that.”

TIF Thoughts on a return for Bale…

Bale’s return to north London was short but sweet last time out, with the winger coming off the bench for the majority of his game time but having an impressive impact.

Despite having only made 20 appearances in the Premier League during his loan spell, the Welshman was still able to score 11 times and provide two assists (via Transfermarkt).

However, the Lilywhites have plenty of options in the wide position and we do wonder whether bringing Bale back after a season of barely playing for Madrid would be worth it.

It is unknown how many more years the 32-year-old is looking to continue playing for and he would likely arrive with high expectations for his weekly pay packet.
