Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte feels he has been let down by his players in recent weeks, according to Alasdair Gold.

The Spurs reporter was speaking on the latest Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast and spoke of the Italian’s frustrations following their latest defeat.

Do you think Conte will walk before the summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Sean Dyche’s Burnley inflicted a painful loss on the Lilywhites during the week, which saw the spirits of the 52-year-old Spurs boss completely change, just days after hailing his players as one of the best squads he has managed in terms of their attitude.

Conte was left seething in the post-match press conference at Turf Moor as he shared his anger at the club with the press and seemed to question his future in north London.

And Gold believes it is not just the club’s transfer policy he has been left frustrated by, with the Italian now annoyed at his players who have ‘let him down’.

Gold said: “Let me clarify exactly why I think Conte did it, from what I understand and from those people around him. I’m told that although he will never publicly criticise the players, he feels a bit let down by them in recent matches.

“Not the City one, obviously, but you know, the three or four games around that. And that this kind of was a ploy in a way to make them a little bit fearful, because a lot of those players will know, they’ve gone through a lot of managers, and if you can’t win under Antonio Conte, people are gonna look at you as players, that clearly you were the ones that didn’t manage to win silverware under him.

“And I think, yeah, there’s a perception that he was trying to scare them like, ‘I might leave’.”

TIF Thoughts on Conte’s future at Spurs…

Conte has already spoken of his frustrations after the January transfer window at the business done and we feel he is completely right in his assessment.

However, he is now stuck with these players until the summer, so we think he is speaking dangerously if he is wanting to keep the players on his side for the remainder of the campaign.

With the win against City in mind, Spurs have only won one of their last four games in the Premier League and we think it is perhaps time for Conte to try something different formation wise having stuck to the same formation over this recent poor form.
