Reliable Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video about Antonio Conte’s comments on Harry Kane.

Spurs were back in action at the weekend with an impressive 3-1 FA Cup victory against Brighton & Hove Albion in north London to see them through to the fifth round.

And Kane shone under the lights in N17 as the England captain helped himself to two goals on the night as he opened and closed the scoring on Saturday evening.

Since Conte’s arrival, Kane’s form has dramatically improved, having struggled to find his feet in the early stages of the season after a summer of transfer speculation.

“We are working on the physical condition with the team. We’re trying to improve the intensity, also during the training sessions. I think all these situations can improve the performance with all the players,” Conte said on Kane after the game.

And as the Italian manager heaped praise on the England captain for his performance on Saturday night, Gold picked up on what he felt was a slight hint from Conte on Kane’s fitness levels:

“It was interesting, Conte afterwards, he almost was about to admit that he’d had to improve Kane’s fitness and he slightly tweaked it into a more general thing.

“So he almost said, ‘he’s also improving his fitness’. But then he’d have thought, ‘I don’t want to single him out, because I know the headlines are all going to be: ‘I’ve made Harry Kane fit again’.'”

TIF Thoughts on Harry Kane under Antonio Conte…

Under Nuno Espirito Santo, the Lilywhites were the side with the lowest distance covered in the Premier League, however, since Conte’s arrival, that statistic has been dramatically improved.

And we think that can be seen in the change in form Kane has seen since November, with just two goals coming outside of the Europa Conference League under Espirito Santo.

With Conte now at the helm, Kane has been able to score seven goals in other competitions, and with four league goals in his last six games, it is apparent something has changed for the 28-year-old.
