Jack Pitt-Brooke, Tottenham Hotspur reporter for The Athletic, has been speaking on the latest edition of The View From The Lane podcast to discuss behind-the-scenes changes going on at Spurs.

Reports have suggested that since arriving, Fabio Paratici has been left unimpressed by the club’s recruitment setup and is leading a revamp at Hotspur Way.

Have you been impressed with Paratici so far?

No

No

On Thursday, the north London club confirmed their Technical Performance Director, Steve Hitchen, had left the club after 10 years of service at Spurs.

The January window was a busy one for Spurs, with more players departing than arriving as Paratici was left to raid former side Juventus of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

And Pitt-Brooke believes more changes are occurring at Hotspur Way, with new scouts and analysts being hired to report to Paratici – but Hitchen will not be directly replaced.

He said: “So he [Hitchen] won’t be being directly replaced. Tottenham, I don’t think, are desperate to go and get someone else in.

“That said, Tottenham have been in the process of bringing in scouts and analysts on a lower level, who will be reporting up to Paratici, but they won’t be directly replacing Hitchen, I don’t think.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ recruitment…

We do not feel it has been a great start to life in north London for the former Juventus sporting director, with two transfer windows now under his belt.

Out of the signings Paratici brought in over the summer, it is probably only Cristian Romero who we feel has shown any signs of promise in a Spurs shirt.

Antonio Conte is believed not to be impressed by Emerson Royal, Pierluigi Gollini has barely played, while Bryan Gil has already left on loan.

And to add to his poor summer business, it is believed Paratici led the interest in Nuno Espirito Santo, which ultimately ended in disaster.

With all of this in mind, it is probably for the best that Spurs are looking to strengthen behind the scenes to provide Paratici with some extra help at Hotspur Way.
