Allan Saint-Maximin has posted a video of himself on Instagram working alone in the gym in what could be a big boost for Newcastle United and Eddie Howe.

The French winger missed Newcastle’s last match, which was the 1-1 draw at the London Stadium, with Jacob Murphy replacing Saint-Maximin. However, it’s obvious they are better with him in the side as he’s created the most goal-creating actions within the squad (as per FBRef).

Will Saint-Maximin play this weekend?

Saint-Maximin is the fourth-most fouled player in the Premier League this season, so it’s more of a surprise that he hasn’t picked up a knock prior to this one, and with a crunch relegation clash on the horizon for Eddie Howe’s men, his return would be very timely.

He appears to be striving for a swift return as he’s been videoed working out in the gym in a Newcastle top, in what could be a major boost for Howe.

TIF Thoughts on Saint-Maximin…

The Frenchman is currently enjoying his best season in front of goal for the Magpies, as he has registered five goals and three assists, so there is no reason why Howe wouldn’t want to start him this weekend if he’s back and declaring himself fit.

A win on Saturday against Brentford could see Newcastle move up to 14th in the Premier League, which could well have been unthinkable before the start of this stunning six-game unbeaten run in the league.
