According to journalist Ryan Taylor, Barcelona have ‘already received’ an offer from Newcastle for French international Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele has been linked to a move to the Premier League throughout the last couple of transfer windows. Sky Sports reported at the start of the month that with the transfer window recently shutting, Chelsea ‘made a deadline day enquiry about Dembele and are interested in a pre-contract agreement’.

Ryan Taylor spoke to GiveMeSport on the matter and claimed Newcastle are also showing interest in the winger.

“From what I understand, they’ve already made an offer to his agent for a pre-contract agreement, quite a big one as well. So, there is interest in Dembele,” Taylor said.

Interestingly enough, back in 2018, former Newcastle star Hatem Ben Arfa showered praise over the attacker as he stated that he can be more decisive than Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe for France.

You would think Newcastle fans value the opinion of the winger very highly, considering the fact that he was a fan favourite and produced 14 goals and 15 assists during his time at the club.

Dembele has struggled to make an impact at Barcelona since he signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and a move away from Camp Nou appears imminent for the French winger.

Although Dembele is out of contract in five months – meaning he could be leaving Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer – he is on an enormous wage bill of reportedly £287k per week, and the issue lies in finding a club that can afford to pay this.

With the recent financial takeover at Newcastle, you would imagine the deal is financially achievable for the Magpies and would make sense for all parties.

Giants across Europe are also interested in the signature of the 24-year-old, and as Newcastle may not yet be able to compete with these clubs on the pitch in terms of European football, they may have to use money as motivation to lure him into St. James’ Park.
