Sky Sports presenter Joe Thomlinson has claimed that Manchester United should make a move for Mauricio Pochettino following a claim about his future.

The future of the manager’s spot at Manchester United is somewhat unknown at this moment in time. Whilst they do have Ralf Rangnick in charge at the moment, that is only until the end of the season, at which point he will move upstairs to take on the role of consultant at the club.

One man who reportedly could also be changing roles in the summer is the Argentinian Pochettino, who according to a claim from journalist Abdellah Boulma (via Hadrien Grenier), is set to leave his post at French side Paris Saint-Germain, as he tweeted: “The club’s management has informed Mauricio Pochettino that his adventure at PSG will end at the end of the season.”

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

This led to Thomlinson taking to Twitter himself and proclaiming that Manchester United should “get him to the theatre” – an obvious play on the phrase ‘Theatre Of Dreams’, the nickname of Old Trafford:

Is Pochettino the right man for Man Utd?

It certainly does seem like the timing of things might work out incredibly well for Manchester United if they could just have Pochettino fall into their laps like this. It has been noted in the past that Pochettino would be open to the idea of taking on the job at Old Trafford, so for him to become available at the same time that the position should become available as well is just too perfect.

Pochettino is someone who knows how to reach the top four, having done so in four of the five seasons that he was in charge at Tottenham Hotspur, and can also make an impact straight away at a club, having done so during his brief time at Southampton and compiling a 68.2% win percentage during his time at PSG so far.

And given how close Manchester United are to missing out on the Champions League for next season, you get the sense that Pochettino might be the man who can take them from possible contenders into perennial top-four finishers if he’s able to work the same magic that he did at Spurs.
