Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has been speaking about Paul Pogba and his future at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old midfielder is entering the final six months of his deal at the club, however, the club have reportedly been trying since the summer to try and get that deal extended.

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

It was reported by ESPN back in October that the club were ‘prepared to lose Paul Pogba for free next summer after accepting the midfielder will not sign a new contract at Old Trafford’, but that was under the old regime of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has since departed the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ The Transfer Show, Sheth discussed the Frenchman’s future and hinted that even though his contract is set to expire, the possibility of Pogba staying is still on the table for him even if it winds all the way down.

He said: “All the information I’m getting is he’s likely to make this decision in the summer. And Manchester United will still be one of the options despite all of the noise that just because he hasn’t signed a contract just now, everyone automatically assumes he’s gone.

“That’s not what I’m hearing as the case ‘100% yes’. It can happen, of course, because he’s a free agent, but one of the options that he will look at will be staying at Manchester United.”

TIF Thoughts on Dharmesh Sheth’s comments about Paul Pogba and Manchester United…

Do you think Paul Pogba will sign a new contract at Manchester United?

Yes

Yes

No

No

This season hasn’t been the best for Pogba, as despite his seven assists, he has failed to find the back of the net in any competition, and has been out of the side for some time with an injury.

And whilst Manchester United might still hold hope that he will sign a new deal at the club, the writing is pretty much on the wall when it comes to the Frenchman and his future. If he’s not willing to commit to the club now, then it’s clear that his heart isn’t 100% there, so you would have to question his commitment.

That should be a pretty big indicator that it’s time for the club to move on from Pogba, who, with just 38 goals since re-joining the club in 2016, hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations following his then-world-record move.

And with less than two weeks to go until the end of the window, perhaps it would be better for United to try and sell him now to get some money back rather than letting him possibly leave for free in the summer.
