Jurgen Klopp handed new signing Luis Diaz a Premier League debut at the earliest possible opportunity on Thursday night as Liverpool eased past Leicester City 2-0 thanks to a wonderful brace from Diogo Jota.

The Colombian played 89 minutes with his German boss opting to sub him before the end to receive a standing ovation from his new supporters who loved what they saw, giving him a huge reception for his efforts.

He looks like a typical Liverpool player already, getting stuck in from the front to help Klopp’s heavy metal, heavy pressing and aggressive brand of football.

Diaz clearly enjoyed his Premier League debut judging from his Instagram post and something that his manager echoed, telling Liverpool’s official website: “It was now a first game and was probably one of the best I ever saw from a new player, that’s true, because it looked completely natural.”

That’s some huge praise from Klopp, and you can see why. He was involved in double the ground duels defensive midfielder Fabinho was, fourteen to seven, showing how he isn’t afraid to get stuck in to help his team.

He also had more touches than Jota who was the main man on the night. He had 69 to the 42 of Jota, clearly showing how influential he was in the Liverpool attacks.

Praising the fans and the atmosphere they created after a top debut will always go down well and help create an instant bond between player and supporters.
