Leeds United have had a long standing interest in Brenden Aaronson, an American midfielder who currently plies his trade in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg.

Leeds’ January advances were rejected by the Austrian outfit, but the Whites remain interested. The bids already rejected would’ve seen him become the second most expensive American of all time behind Christian Pulisic.

Will Leeds sign Aaronson in the summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Any Leeds fans watching the Champions League in midweek will have seen the potential future signing put on an impressive display against German powerhouse, Bayern Munich. He set up the goal that put his side ahead, only for heartbreak in the 90th minute when Bayern rescued a 1-1 draw to take back to the Allianz Arena.

Phil Hay on his podcast, The Phil Hay Show talked about the impressive American: “I think if you’re watching Aaronson playing like he did for Salzburg against Bayern Munich and giving him, I guess, the benefit of the doubt in saying that must be how he plays pretty regularly for Salzburg, which is very very well, I feel like you are targeting the right players. If he’s coming from a club who press high, really strong pressing game, like possession like to get on the ball, then he’s a good fit.”

TIF thoughts on the comments…

Well if he can perform that well in a knockout Champions League tie against six-time winners Bayern Munich, he must be a special talent. He’s showing his worth on the biggest stage of all at just 21 years old, if Leeds can get a deal over the line in the summer then this could be huge.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

It would show Leeds to be going the right direction, recruiting quality players to help them look to move forward in the Premier League, not backwards like has been happening this season. They’re currently in a relegation fight after an impressive return last season.

The 5 foot 10 Aaronson’s arrival in the summer would be a major shot in the arm for Bielsa’s side.
