Leeds United correspondent Beren Cross has admitted he would not be surprised to see Adam Forshaw return to Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI on Wednesday night.

Writing for Leeds Live, the reporter provided his thoughts on how Bielsa will approach his lineup for the game against Aston Villa with Forshaw returning from injury.

Should Forshaw return to the XI?

The 30-year-old midfielder, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), was forced off against West Ham United in January with a hamstring issue, however, Cross believes he will return to the XI at Villa Park.

Tweeting a link to his article, Cross captioned his post with: “Wouldn’t be surprised if Forshaw is the only change on Wednesday night.”

Leeds were without the midfielder for their last outing in the Premier League, which saw the Whites fall to relegation rivals Newcastle United at Elland Road.

The break from domestic football fell at a great time for the 30-year-old, with an extra couple of days to recover over the weekend, too, with Leeds already eliminated from the FA Cup.

TIF Thoughts on Adam Forshaw returning…

It was a difficult month for the West Yorkshire side in the January transfer window as they failed to provide Bielsa with any further options to his Leeds squad.

So having Forshaw return should be a big boost for the manager, given that Forshaw has featured in 12 of Leeds’ Premier League games this season (via Transfermarkt).

With Leeds sitting just seven points above the drop, having a familiar face returning to the XI should certainly be a boost for the fans and Bielsa as they come up against a Villa side aiming for a top-half finish.
