Everton winger Demarai Gray has issued an encouraging post on Instagram amid his injury issues which have sidelined the 25-year-old.

The English winger has been out of action since the beginning of the month after picking up a hip injury in the early stages of their defeat against Newcastle United.

And amid Everton’s poor form, the 25-year-old has taken to Instagram to share a post with a potential update on his possible return to Frank Lampard’s options.

Gray posted a photo of himself celebrating a goal from earlier in the season at Goodison Park – but it was the ‘hourglass emoji’ caption that will have excited the Everton fans.

Having signed in the summer from the Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in the region of £1.8m, the winger made an electric start to life back in the Premier League.

In his opening four league games for the Toffees, Gray netted three goals and ended the calendar year with five league goals and two assists to his name.

However, the turn of the year has not been kind to the former Leicester City man, who has failed to find the back of the net in any of his league games in 2022 (via Transfermarkt).

Gray has been able to score and assist in the FA Cup, but with Lampard’s side struggling in the league, Everton fans will be hoping the winger can return to the squad and show the form he displayed earlier in the season.

The upcoming fixtures for Everton do not look kind and with relegation a real threat, Gray’s return could be a huge boost for Lampard, with Andros Townsend also drying up in front of goal.
