Aston Villa ace Matty Cash has been left wowed by the display of Nottingham Forest midfielder Brennan Johnson after his recent FA Cup outing.

Over the weekend, Forest pulled off one of the results of the fourth round as they thumped Premier League outfit Leicester City 4-1 in a stunning home performance.

Johnson scored the second goal of the game just a minute after Philip Zinckernagel had opened the scoring. Captain Joe Worrall then scored only eight minutes later to put the game out of reach before half time – despite a consolation from Kelechi Iheanacho, which was later cancelled out by Djed Spence.

Having previously played for the Reds, Cash was keeping a close eye on proceedings and couldn’t help but gush over the performance of Johnson.

Indeed, the Villa ace took to Twitter to say: “Brennan Johnson some player,” adding the fire emoji three times.

Despite still only being 20 years of age,  Johnson has provided seven goals and five assists in the Championship this season.

With numbers like that and high-profile displays as the one he showed in the FA Cup most recently, it’s no wonder that Premier League players such as Cash are starting to take notice.

Who knows, perhaps teams from the top division will be tracking his progress, too. And if Aston Villa went to their right-back for a recommendation, it certainly seems as if they’d get a good one.
