Fabrizio Romano has revealed the two key names on Arsenal’s striker shortlist for this summer while appearing on the FIVE YouTube channel.

Arsenal decided to not bring in a striker last month despite seeing their club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave, and this has seemingly left them in a very tricky situation.

Who would you rather sign?

Isak!

David!

David!

This is because their only two first-team strikers at the club, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, are both out of contract in the summer, with Romano claiming that he expects them both to leave at the end of the season.

Therefore, they are looking to add potentially two new strikers this summer, with reported January target Alexander Isak and Jonathan David – who’s impressed with 12 Ligue 1 goals this term – on their shortlist, according to the Italian journalist.

Romano believes that Arsenal will do something important in the striker department this summer.

“So they need a striker, maybe two strikers, but they need an important striker, I would keep the names of Alexander Isak and Jonathan David on the list because they have both players on the list since January. I’m sure that Arsenal will go for something important in a key position.”

TIF Thoughts on Arsenal’s striker shortlist…

The Gunners will clearly need some more firepower if both Lacazette and Nketiah are to depart, and they are obviously planning for the future considering the majority of their recent signings under Mikel Arteta – and with both Isak and David just 22 years of age, they could fit the profile the Gunners are looking for and lead the line for years to come.

If Arsenal are seriously interested in David, then they may have been left disappointed by his Champions League performance against Chelsea on Tuesday evening, as he managed zero shots on target, completed zero dribbles and racked up just four touches in the opposition’s penalty area, which could show he’s not quite ready for a team fighting at the top end of the Premier League.
