Football writer Charles Watts has claimed that the agent of Youri Tielemans is talking to ‘lots of clubs’, including Arsenal.

For those who have been keeping an eye on the Gunners, it should come as no surprise that they are seemingly in the market for a new midfielder.

The likes of Wolves’ Ruben Neves and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz are a couple of names to have been linked, as has Leicester City ace Tielemans.

Now, when delivering the latest on Tielemans while speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts explained that the player’s agent has been ‘doing the rounds’ in an attempt to stir up interest in his client – which included a visit to the Arsenal training ground at the end of last year.

He said: “They’ve [Arsenal] already been speaking to a lot of people. I’ve already revealed here a couple of months ago that the club hosted the agent of Youri Tielemans at the training ground before Christmas.

“Certainly in the mix for him. Not saying that he’s the main target but they’re certainly in the mix for him. Tielemans’ agent has been doing the rounds, talking to lots of clubs, kind of setting things up for the summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Youri Tielemans and Arsenal…

As things stand, Arsenal’s main midfield duo is made up of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. Considering the latter’s past misdemeanours, it’s easy to understand why Mikel Arteta may be eyeing an upgrade in that position.

Should Arsenal sign Youri Tielemans next summer?

No

Despite still only being 24 years of age, Tielemans has already played over 100 times in the Premier League and fired Leicester to an FA Cup final victory with a stunning goal.

His contract expires in the summer of 2023, meaning that if the Foxes want to cash in on him, they may well have to sell this summer.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise the player’s agent has been trying to work out the best option for the Belgian – and perhaps Arsenal will be his preferred destination.
