Speaking on his latest YouTube video, Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest in Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Adama Traore.

It is believed the Lilywhites are looking to bring in the Spanish winger this month, but now find themselves battling against the clock to complete the deal with less than a week until the window shuts.

Do you think Traore could succeed at RWB?

No

And to add to their concerns, Gold has revealed a source from around Wolverhampton Wanderers has warned him not to expect much of the 25-year-old when being made to defend.

This claim comes with Antonio Conte reportedly looking for a new right wing-back this month and eyeing Traore as a potential option to address his concerns in that position.

With Traore having grabbed just the one goal in the Premier League this season, Gold had the following to say on the Spaniard’s defensive ability:

“He’s certainly not the worst signing in the world, I certainly wouldn’t say that. As I’ve said, people around Wolves have told me, and people that report on Wolves, have said ‘good luck if you’re going to get him to try to defend, because it’s not something he’s very good at’. So that will be something that has to be drilled into him as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore at RWB for Spurs…

This season alone, the Wolves ace has played predominantly in an attack-minded position, with Bruno Lage using Traore on both the right and left wings, as well as a centre-forward (via Transfermarkt).

It is believed Conte has his concerns about Emerson Royal in the wing-back position due to his crossing ability, however, Traore has struggled himself in recent seasons – albeit while providing a constant attacking threat.

But there are certainly big question marks over his ability in defence, and with his role under Lage not providing much evidence to ease the minds of Spurs fans, it may be a case of finding out once he joins.

Recent reports have suggested the Lilywhites turned their attention to Traore after finding a move for Tariq Lamptey too expensive, but could this decision prove costly for Spurs come the end of the season?
