Football journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest episode of Touchline Talk to provide an update on Dan Burn’s potential move to Newcastle United.

The defender has been linked with a possible return to the north-east having grown up in Blyth, with the Toon believed to have him on their radar with just a few days remaining of the transfer window.

Would Dan Burn be a good signing?

Yes

Yes

No

No

And Jones has revealed he has been told there is a genuine possibility the Brighton & Hove Albion defender could well make a late move to the Magpies.

With just days remaining until Eddie Howe’s squad will be set for the remainder of the campaign, the Toon have still seen just two new arrivals this month.

One of those new arrivals has been right-back Kieran Trippier, with Howe yet to receive a boost to his options at centre-back, but Jones had the following to say on a potential move for Burn:

“You’re seeing Dan Burn, for example, being suddenly linked with Newcastle and it’s real. Like, that is, I’m told, one to take seriously. I’m not saying that it will happen, but there is something in that story.”

TIF Thoughts on Burn to NUFC…

The Magpies have been linked with big potential moves for the likes of Sven Botman and Diego Carlos this month, but ultimately, both have fallen through.

So naturally, Burn may come as a disappointment to some. However, we feel Burn could be a smart move for the Toon to see them through until the summer.

Despite his injury issues, Burn has been an integral part of what has been a very strong Brighton side this season, with the Seagulls flying in ninth spot of the Premier League table.

And on top of his ability shown this season, he is a local lad to Newcastle, and with Howe needing players to fight for the shirt in the battle against relegation, Burn will know what it means to the city to help and try to save the club’s top-flight status.
