Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting to news surrounding the future of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing at the club.
According to local journalist Alex Miller on Twitter, the winger is set to stay at the club for a little bit longer, as he writes in an article for The Star:
“Mendez-Laing’s contract was due to expire over the weekend and that the club risked losing the player after their trip to Oxford United. But there was a willingness on both sides to agree a new deal, the finer points of which appear to have been ironed out as he penned an extension.”
The 29-year-old only joined the club in November on what appears to have been a very short-term deal, and has gone on to make just the four appearances so far, scoring one goal and bagging an assist.
However, that appears to have been enough for Owls boss Darren Moore to get the club to agree to an extension.
The news left plenty of Sheffield Wednesday fans rather excited when it came across their timelines:
“Finally we get something right.”
Will Sheffield Wednesday be promoted this season?
Yes
No
Let’s just hope that he is worth the new deal, because given the Owls’ recent problems financially, they can’t afford to be wasting any money on players that aren’t up to scratch.
