A large number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been sharing their delight on Twitter following the latest update to emerge regarding Cristian Romero’s injury status.

The summer signing has struggled with injuries since arriving in north London and the latest issue has kept him out of action since November.

Should Romero return straight into the starting XI?

However, Antonio Conte has revealed the 23-year-old centre-back is edging ever closer to a return to first-team action having stepped up his training at Hotspur Way.

“Cristian Romero, I am pleased because I am seeing how he is almost 100 per cent fit and he is very very close to coming back, and for sure after the international break he is available to play and help us,” said Conte on Friday.

Fans had already been boosted by Romero not receiving a call up for the upcoming international break and these fans were clearly buzzing with Conte’s latest update.

What did these fans have to say?

“Yeah top4 is locked up”

“big news”
“What a couple of days, I might cry”
“Add some more Levy then top 4 is ours.”
“OMG PLEASE START V CHELSEA MAN”
“Yess hopefully for chealsea”
“Tears in my eyes”

The Athletic has reported the upcoming FA Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on 5 February as being a potential date for the Argentine to make his return to the squad.

And it is no surprise these fans are desperate to see Romero return given he has only made seven league appearances since signing on the back of an award-winning 2020/21 campaign with Atalanta.

Levy wouldn’t know a class player if he jumped up and kicked him in the crown Jewells. We’ve been after Traore for over a year and I’m not even sure he’s that good. Also how long does it take Levy to pull the trigger on a deal. He’s lied to the Spurs fans for 20 years, saying we’re after this and that top star, but they never come, this year alone we’ve been linked to Vlahovic, Rudiger, De Ligt, Kessie, Dybala and Dembele, none of them are signing for Spurs cause Levy won’t pay the wages they want. While Levy and Lewis run the show we’ll have to make do with sub quality players, the only trouble with that is, when Levy tries to sell them, he can’t. Shot himself right in the foot. If the fans want change and to see some real quality signings, we have to force out Levy and Lewis, they have held this club back too long. Levy, Lewis & ENIC OUT !!!
