Leeds United fans have been reacting to the latest claims surrounding former player Ronaldo Vieira during the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old is currently at Sampdoria where he has currently made 44 appearances for them, failing to find the back of the net in that time. Before his time in Italy, he was a regular member of the side at Elland Road, making 71 appearances, during which he managed to score on two occasions.
Recent reports in Italy have suggested that Leeds might be trying to bring him back to the club. With Marcelo Bielsa’s men currently going through something of an injury crisis right now, they could certainly do with the extra bodies in the squad.
However, according to journalist David Anderson, those reports appear to be wide of the mark, as he took to Twitter to claim that ‘they are not attempting to re-sign old boy Ronaldo Vieira’.
The news generated some interesting responses from Leeds United fans on Twitter when they saw it, with some seemingly happy that a deal wasn’t going through, with specific reference to his troubles when it comes to staying healthy:
“As romantic as the idea of him coming back to us was, this one never really felt like it made sense. A player that’s struggled for fitness for a long time now.”
Do you expect Leeds to spend in January?
So it looks as if this one can be crossed off the list for the time being, although with some time left in the window, where Leeds might be forced to look is anyone’s guess, especially if their injury situation doesn’t get much better in the coming weeks.
