Newcastle United fans have been discussing defender Fabian Schär following claims about his future.
The 30-year-old joined the club in the summer of 2018 from Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna and has gone on to make 83 appearances since then, in a spell that has seen him riddled with injuries and missing plenty of time as a result.
His time at the club is soon set to end as his contract runs out at the end of the current campaign, but according to a claim on social media, that time could be about to come a lot quicker.
According to journalist Nicolò Schira on Twitter, the Swiss defender could leave the club in the current transfer window, as they claim that he is ‘ready to leave’ Newcastle this month.
The news was picked up by Newcastle fans, where there seemed to be a lot of despair about the idea of Schar leaving the club in the coming weeks:
“I’M ON MY KNEES PLEASE NO MAN”
Do you want Schar to stay at Newcastle?
Yes, he is a good player
No, he has had his time
It seems a bit off that Newcastle are looking to get rid of defensive players this window given how many goals they have conceded, but perhaps this is an indicator that they are on course to bag one of the defenders that they have reportedly been targeting this window.
