Newcastle United fans were glad to have finally seen the back of Sports Direct tycoon Mike Ashley, but it appears they haven’t…

The former Toon owner has opened up proceedings against Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi via his company St James Holdings.

Will Newcastle replace Wilson?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The details of why Ashley is taking them to the High Court hasn’t been made public as of yet, but some fans are speculating that it could be regarding the removal of the Sports Direct branding around the ground.

Craig Hope from The Daily Mail reported the story and posted it to Twitter, with fans going into meltdown in the replies.

What the Newcastle fans said about Hope’s Mike Ashley update

“Can you imagine if he got the club back?” @gallowgatenufc1

“He’s just a horrible parasite.” @s_falcus

“Dissing his brand. Defamation? But how can you defame a reputation in the gutter? #nufc £1 damages no order as to costs. Still cost them a fortune.” @AnthPatterson

“To be expected going by his history of legal battles with Rangers.” @ThespenceUK

“Can he not leave us alone?” @RuzMark

Don’t worry Magpies, you can sleep tonight! It’d be a major shock if he had any interest in returning to the club. He’s reportedly trying to buy Derby County and he was desperate to sell the Toon to PIF, not giving up on the deal when it was originally blocked.

How many seasons did Siem de Jong spend on Tyneside?

It’ll be interesting to see what the case is about, with Ashley being slated once again by the Newcastle fans. He mustn’t care about his reputation on Tyneside as he keeps finding a way to drag his name though the mud up there!
