A whole host of Newcastle United fans were very happy on Twitter to hear Keith Downie’s fresh transfer claim.

While some Newcastle fans may well have expected (or simply wanted) a centre-back to have arrived before their clash against Watford, they will have to settle with just Chris Wood, although they do also have Kieran Trippier set to make his Premier League debut for the club.

Will Newcastle sign Diego Carlos?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

It’s not like the club haven’t been trying to bolster their backline, with bids going in and being rejected for both Sven Botman and Diego Carlos since the transfer window opened, and while Downie has confirmed they’re still pushing for that duo, he has also suggested Eddie Howe is keen to add more players with Premier League experience to his ranks.

A lot of Newcastle fans are buzzing on Twitter with Downie’s transfer claim.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“Coady would be my top choice, Tarkowski a second option.”

@leecartwright94

“Amanda at Newcastle HQ past 13 days…………… Keep going girl you’re doing us soooooop proud!!!!!!!!”

@nufc4444

“Would love to see who we go for in the summer if we stay up”

@GeordieJordan96

“I’m sure our good friends at CAA Base are seeing who’s got a release clause as we speak”

@Lee_NUFC93

“Throw the same money at Coady. Absolute no brainer that one”

@KickOffConcepts

“Nat Phillips from Liverpool would be a good shout”

These Newcastle fans are clearly both thankful for what their new owners are doing for the club, with two new signings inside the first 14 days of the transfer window, while also being very open to them signing more players with top-flight experience in England.
