Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that Jose Mourinho has no interest in the Everton job, while speaking on The Transfer Show.

The current Roma manager only joined the Serie A side in the summer, but it had been reported by Sky Sports that Mourinho was someone being considered by Everton to succeed Rafael Benitez, although Solhekol has now confirmed that the Portuguese boss has no interest in the role.

Mourinho’s last stint in the Premier League was last season with Tottenham Hotspur, and despite getting sacked mid-season, he is now doing a solid job with Roma, with the Italian outfit sitting just outside of the Europa League qualification spots on goal difference – and according to Solhekol, he has the full backing of the Roma board.

Speaking on Wednesday about the links between the Toffees and the three-time Premier League winner, Solhekol has revealed what Mourinho and his camp have had to say about the Everton job.

“We do have an update as far as Jose Mourinho is concerned, and we can say very, very confidently that there is no way Jose Mourinho is going to leave Roma.

“He’s fully committed to Roma, and he’s fully backed by Roma’s owners and directors, and he has great support and trust from the fans of Roma.

“We can also say as far as Jose Mourinho is concerned, he is fully committed to the job he started at Roma; he won’t consider any offers from any other clubs at the moment.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton’s managerial situation amid the Jose Mourinho links…

It appears that the Everton board are not quite sure on what type of manager they want to go for – with Wayne Rooney, who is inexperienced in the Premier League; Frank Lampard, who’s been out of a job for over a year; Roberto Martinez, who’s been in international management since 2016; and now Mourinho, who’s a predominantly defensive coach, often playing with two pivoting midfielders and in a new job – all being linked.

Two of those names are fresh and young faces in the management game, whereas the other two have been about and have a lot of Premier League experience, but this sort of scattergun approach may not come as a shock to some Evertonians as they did see their club hire a former Liverpool manager over the summer.
