Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to news surrounding a possible swoop for Jonathan David in the January transfer window.
The striker reached double digits for league goals in each of the past two seasons for Belgian side KAA Gent as well as current side LOSC Lille. Having also hit that mark already in the current campaign, it’s no surprise that the Canadian would be hot property for a team looking to add goals to their team.
Spurs have needed the extra body for some time as an extra option to supplement main man Harry Kane, and according to TSN Soccer journalist Matthew Scianitti, Tottenham are one of a number of top clubs interested in signing the 22-year-old.
He said: “TSN has learned you can add Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Barcelona to existing reports linking Jonathan David to Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid.”
However, Scianitti did go on to claim that ‘a summer move is more likely’ as David focuses on a critical period for club and country – with Lille in the Champions League knockout stages and Canada in World Cup contention.
Nevertheless, news of their interest was relayed to Spurs fans by @thespursweb for them to react to, where it generated some interesting responses, with many clearly excited about the prospect joining:
“I can dream”
Will you be disappointed if the club miss out on Jonathan David?
Yes
No
It seems like Spurs will have some serious competition to try and sign him, so it’ll be an interesting one to keep an eye on in the coming months.
