A number of Sunderland fans have found themselves enjoying footage of Nathan Broadhead’s goal in the Carabao Cup.

The Black Cats recently made the trip to north London as they faced Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. With a place in the competition’s semi-final on the line, away fans may have been hoping for a shock result.

In the end, Arsenal’s quality showed as they claimed a comprehensive 5-1 win, largely thanks to an Eddie Nketiah hat-trick. However, there was a moment where Sunderland looked like coming back into the game.

Indeed, with the score at 2-0, Broadhead raced through on goal and finished well to halve the deficit. While it was only a consolation effort in the wider context of the game, the Sunderland support seemed to enjoy it nonetheless.

Indeed, the club’s official Twitter account shared footage of the moment online the morning after, and it soon had fans expressing their appreciation for the goal.

Here’s what these Sunderland fans said…

“For a moment we looked like we were in it.. a brief moment.. but a moment. And that’s all we need as fans.. It’s the moments that matter. Sunderland Till I die.”

“What a finish.”

“Easily the goal of the season, there’s a maturity to this goal.”
“Kid is a baller, get well soon….”
“The roar after that goal was unreal Pritchard got away from his man. Absolutely different gravy.”
“So proud of the lads last, the result is irrelevant compared to the pride in the performance.”
“Best goal of the night imo.”

Now out of the cup, the Black Cats will have to turn their attention to League One. Currently, they sit two points off the automatic promotion spots as they hope to regain Championship status.
