Celtic fans didn’t hold back when going in at journalist James Black, who appeared to complain about the Hoops’ late win over Ross County.
After taking a 1-0 lead through Liel Abada, Jack Baldwin levelled the scores for Ross County before Celtic were reduced to 10 men when Carl Starfelt was sent off with 10 minutes to go. With six minutes added on, Celtic won the game six minutes and a few seconds into stoppage time thanks to Anthony Ralston.
Will Ange lead Celtic to the league this season?
This got fans talking on social media, with Black suggesting, perhaps jokingly, Celtic were handed a favour for scoring in the seventh minute of six added on after quote-tweeting an SNP’s comments about the standard of officiating on Wednesday night.
When Celtic fans saw his tweet, they all let the journalist know how they felt nevertheless.
How the Celtic fans reacted…
“Tell me you know nothing about football without actually telling me.”
“How can someone be paid to write about football not understand how injury time works? That’s the real quiz.”
“Say it with me now… A minimum of six added minutes.”
“You do understand what the word minimum means?”
“Scored with five seconds over the 96th minute, ball was in an attacking position up until this point and wouldn’t have been blown until cleared, but you knew that already, right?”
“You sound like someone who has never watched a game of football…”
You’d imagine that Black was looking for that sort of reaction as surely he knows the rules – the game often doesn’t end bang-on the added time. Either way, Celtic supporters were clear in voicing their disagreement.
The win was vital for the Hoops, who remained four points behind Rangers at the top of the league as their Glasgow rivals beat St. Johnstone on Wednesday, too. If Ange Postecoglou is to claim the league title, you feel it’s perfection needed from here.
