Celtic fans have been reacting to an image that has emerged from their game at the weekend in the Scottish Premiership.
Ange Postecoglou’s men came out 3-0 winners against Dundee United at Tannadice, with goals from Tom Rogic, David Turnbull and Liam Scales enough to take three points back with them to Celtic Park, however another incident involving the aforementioned Turnbull has been generating headlines for a whole host of different reasons.
The 22-year-old, who was so impressive last season, winning both the club’s Player and Young Player of the Season awards, was on the receiving end of a nasty looking challenge by Dundee United’s Callum Butcher that was fortunate not to leave him with any serious damage, and which Butcher only received a caution for, when a red card could arguably have been warranted.
Footage of the incident was posted on Twitter by @ScoliosisReform for fans to react to, where they were left up in arms over the nature of the tackle, many of them furious that Butcher wasn’t given his marching orders:
“Red. All day and night. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.”
Will Celtic win the league this season?
Yes
No
Perhaps an incident like this might speed up the introduction of VAR into the Scottish leagues, something that was discussed not too long ago.
