Celtic fans have been reacting to the performance of David Turnbull during their game in the Scottish Premiership.

Ange Postecoglou’s men ran out 1-0 winners against Hearts at Celtic Park, as they managed to not only push clear of their opponents in 3rd place, but also moved one step closer to their cross-city rivals in the battle for the Premiership title, narrowing the gap to four points with both teams now having played the same amount of games.

However, whilst they did manage to secure all three points, it would seem as though not everybody was at their best at Celtic Park, with the 22-year-old coming in for some serious criticism from the Celtic faithful.

Fans tore into him on social media, with some of them seemingly not happy with his ability, or apparent lack thereof, when it came to set-piece delivery:

“Please take Turnbull off the free kicks.”

“Need to get Turnbull off corners”
“One thing that annoys me about the pecking order in the Celtic team are corners and set-piece takers. Turnbull takes the ball off Jota only to not get it past the 1st defender…needs addressing?”
“Turnbull is a total passenger here. Hook him and bench him”
“Said it before don’t rate Turnbull gives the ball away far too often”
“Turnbull needs dropped for a couple of games”
“Pathetic Turnbull.”
“Turnbull and Johnston are technically very decent but their decision making can be absolutely woeful.”

Is Turnbull the best young player in Scotland?

Not the best of performance from someone who was so impressive last season, winning both Player and Young Player of the Season at the club, hopefully a performance like this isn’t an indicator that he’s fallen too far off the pace of things since last season.
