Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that Ben Johnson is ‘touch and go’ for West Ham United’s match in the Carabao Cup.

At the start of the month, the Hammers defender suffered a hamstring strain which looked set to keep him out for a number of weeks.

However, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, ExWHUemployee claimed that Johnson is ‘ahead of schedule’ for his return – as is fellow injured defender Kurt Zouma.

He explained that, as a result, the right-back now has a chance of playing against Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-final stage of the Carabao Cup this week.

He outlined the situation, saying: “Ben Johnson and Kurt Zouma are both ahead of schedule in their rehabilitation from injury, to the point where I think that Johnson might even be available for the Spurs game. It’s touch and go, but he might be available for the Spurs game.”

TIF Thoughts on Ben Johnson and West Ham…

Up to this point in the season, West Ham have had a very impressive campaign. Indeed, the east London club are currently well in the mix for a Champions League spot.

Who should be West Ham's starting right-back?

On top of that, they will be hoping for a strong cup run in the Carabao Cup when they face Spurs later this week. If Johnson is fit for that game, he could provide a big boost for the team.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a similarly fine season, having made himself a regular first-team option, playing in nine Premier League games.

No doubt, he’ll be hoping to return to fitness soon so that his form isn’t halted in any major kind of way.
