Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to comments made by Alasdair Gold regarding the club’s plans for the January transfer window.

Reports back in November as Spurs were set to appoint Antonio Conte seemed to suggest that the Italian would demand an incredibly big transfer warchest if he were to come to the club, with Calcio Mercato claiming that he wanted as much as €280m (£237.9m) to improve the squad left to him by Nuno Espirito Santo.

How many points did Tottenham gain in the following seasons? First up: 2020/21

However, it appears as though that will not be the case, as according to respected Spurs journalist Gold, who was speaking on his YouTube channel about a number of topics concerning the club, “there’s not huge amounts of money to spend this January”.

These comments were relayed to supporters by @LastWordOnSpurs for them to react to, and it’s fair to say that they weren’t too impressed with what they saw as the January window draws closer:

“Hahaha & that’s following we are signing £40m+ players ever since Conte came in! I mean going from spending £120m to £12m seems the norm & why Conte is being leashed as did every other manager. Well done Levy let’s keep dropping down the table!”

“I am astounded by this.”
“If true, and many believe Gold is the word of God, Conte walks by the end of the year.”
“There never is a huge amount. There actually is, but Levy won’t spend it. So once again, we’re screwed. Nothing new.”
“With us being so Spursy…if we did splash mucho ££ on Vlahovic, he’d probably blow a knee the first time he’d be on the pitch…”
“Typical tho… rewind a month ago, ”oh spurs are gonna go into the next window with Conte getting Levy’s full backing for new players” now with only 2half weeks left spurs now haven’t got the money to spend big same old same old with us everytime”
“I just feel cheated I cannot imagine what Conte will be thinking is this true it will be devastating for the rebuild we were looking forward too. Conte will NOT stay without players in to the mix.”

Will Conte make Tottenham a force again?

No

No

Conte has done a good job with what he has at his disposal, with Spurs currently 5th in the Premier League form table over the past six games and sitting just three points outside the top four with two games in hand, but if Gold is correct and there isn’t a big boost in January, it could very well end up costing them a place in the Champions League.

It really is time for Levy, Lewis and ENIC to go, they’ve done all they can and probably made the club worth a hell of a lot more than when they took it over, sell the club to someone who is intent on winning things not just the bank balance. Levy, Lewis and ENIC OUT !!!
