Derby County fans have been reacting to an update from journalist John Percy regarding the future of their club.

It has certainly been a tough time for Derby, with the club’s financial situation resulting in them entering administration and suffering a 12-point penalty from the EFL, which has more or less sealed relegation down to League One for them next season.

The club have been looking for new owners recently, with Rams boss Wayne Rooney recently stating that they are “hoping to get it completed by January at some point”.

Do you know the record signing for these Championship sides? Let's see if you do, starting with Fulham

Taking to Twitter, Midlands football reporter Percy claimed Quantuma, the firm that have been put in charge of the club during administration, are “close to naming [a] preferred bidder” – but that an announcement shouldn’t be expected until next week at the earliest.

The news generated a number of responses from the fans when it came across their timelines, with some left excited at the prospect of a new owner at the club coming in soon:

“Major sigh of relief seeing this tweet”

“SIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU”
“Looks more positive for the club”
“Fingers crossed the local consortium get it.”
“It wouldn’t be Derby County if the promised deadlines were not missed or half the buyers dropped out. The saga continues!!!”
“Great to see things hopefully heading in the right direction for the club”

Whilst plans for this season might be hard to make given their situation, the sooner that a deal is made, the sooner things can get ready for 2022/23, so hopefully a deal can be sorted for the Rams sooner rather than later.
