A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their disgust at Stephen Warnock’s take on Andy Robertson’s red card on Sunday.

Spurs earned themselves a big point in their bid for a spot in the top four of the table on Sunday against title-chasing Liverpool.

Was a red card the correct decision?

The game was marred by the officials, as Robertson was sent off for a poor challenge on Tottenham’s Emerson Royal in the second half.

However, the former Liverpool defender shared his thoughts on the red card whilst featuring on Sky Sports: “I don’t think it’s a red card. I think if you run in at 5/10mph and you’re running at a speed and then you lift the player in that way, but he’s almost walked into the challenge.”

The Scottish left-back was initially shown a yellow card, but the incident was reviewed by VAR, which saw Paul Tierney upgrade his decision to a straight red card, and these fans shared their anger with Warnock’s view on the incident.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“Outrageous view,,it’s dangerous, angry and most importantly full of intent to injure someone”

“I’m biased obviously but how is Warnock a pundit with this view. Kane’s was a red but at least it was a tackle, you can’t just kick people.”
“This is one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard about anything”
“Wow. The bias is astounding.”
“Embarrassing.”
“Delusional”
“Stealing a living as a pundit.”

Tottenham were left to rue their chances at the end of the game, but they may feel fortunate to have lasted the game with 11 men on the field after Harry Kane’s first-half challenge on Robertson which saw him booked.

Despite the controversy hanging over Kane’s challenge, it is clear to see these fans were furious with the conclusion Warnock had arrived at over Robertson’s own dismissal.
