A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to share their delight at a recent claim to emerge regarding their spot in the Europa Conference League.
Last week’s final group stage game against Rennes was postponed due to a virus outbreak at Spurs and with Vitesse beating NS Mura in their game, Spurs need three points to progress in the competition.
Do you want Spurs to remain in the ECL?
Yes
No
UEFA was unable to come to a resolution on a potential rescheduled date for the game and that has put Tottenham’s spot in the competition in jeopardy.
However, a recent report from The Sun has emerged claiming UEFA may allow the game to be played after the original 31st December deadline.
The report also claims Rennes could be at risk of punishment if they are deemed to be hindering the rescheduling talks, which saw Spurs fans flooding to Twitter to share their thoughts.
What did these Spurs fans have to say?
“They need us, free revenue”
With the club’s future in the competition uncertain, both Spurs and Vitesse were included in Monday’s draw for the next round, which saw them paired with Rapid Vienna.
Given Tottenham’s trophy drought has gone on since 2008, perhaps remaining in the competition would be a good thing, and it appears these fans were in favour of the claims coming out of The Sun.
