Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential move for Lorenzo Insigne in the January transfer window.

Reports in Italy at the end of November seemed to suggest that Tottenham, along with other clubs, were monitoring the situation surrounding Insigne at his current club, Napoli. The 30-year-old is in contract negotiations with the Italian side over his deal, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

How many points did Tottenham gain in the following seasons? First up: 2020/21

Now, according to Italian journalist Fabio Santini (Area Napoli, via Sport Witness), Antonio Conte’s men appear to be in the lead for his signature, as he noted: “The closest team to Lorenzo Insigne is Tottenham. Their executive, Fabio Paratici is courting him closely.”

This news was relayed to Tottenham fans by @THFCReports and @LastWordOnSpurs for them to react to, where it’s fair to say there were plenty of them excited to hear that they were apparently the frontrunners to sign him:

“Praying this is true”

“I’VE BEEN ON INSIGNE PROP SINCE LAST YEAR LETS GOOOOOO”
“I’d love to have him at Spurs”
“Wouldn’t mind him tbf. Would be exceptional as a free agent in the summer”
“No way this can be true. Would cry tears of joy if it were to happen though.”
“I’d love this”
“This move would be massive, Insigne is a beast of the game”

Will Conte make Tottenham a force again?

Yes

No

No

Given Tottenham’s struggles in front of goal, with just 16 in their 14 league games, you can certainly see why Insigne, with 114 goals and 95 assists during his time at Napoli, might appeal to them. Whether or not they can get a deal over the line, however, will be a different matter.

In answer to your poll, it’s very hard to believe it possible when the reports out today suggest there is no money to spend on new players!

Why would you be so happy for Spurs to sign a 30 year old that has a year or two ahead and his best years behind him? Absolutely ridiculous.
